Upcycled Yarns

In the workshop, the policy is to recycle and reuse ends of dye lots and ‘waste’ which leads to additional jobs and is kinder to the environment. The creative challenge is to turn the ‘waste’ into something exciting and unique. Knitting with these yarns is an adventure into colour and texture even for the beginner knitter. The result, a one-off creation, is a truly rewarding and a fun crafting experience.

Thick 'n Thin

A hand-tied yarn which differs from the Magic Ball in textural variety from lace weight yarns to chunky spun and everything in between.

Minimums: 5 balls per colour.
50g balls 120-135m
Needles 5mm- 7mm
Composition: 60% Mohair, 30% Wool, 10% synthetics

Chunky Spun

An uneven handspun yarn reusing the Mohair fluff brushed from throws and plaids

Minimums: 5 balls per colour.
50g balls +/- 35m
Needle size 7mm – 12mm
Composition: 70% Mohair, 30% Wool

Due to the upcycled nature of this yarn, colours will constantly vary ensuring uniqueness

Sari Silk Nubs

A unique handspun yarn using the ends of dye lots from Silk fabrics. It is cut and attached to Mohair yarn in the spinning process to form a colourful nub that frays into a wild frizz of silk.

Minimums: 5 balls per colour
50g balls +/- 70m
Needle size 4mm – 8mm
Composition: 45% Mohair, 40%Silk, 12% Wool, 3% Synthetics

Colour Options:
Natural, Black, Red, Burnt Red, Fuchsia, Rust, Orange, Sand, Sea Green.

Self Striping Extra Fine Lace Weight

A minimum of 5 colours are hand-tied to create a yarn that changes colour. The lengths of each colour are different to create varying striped widths when you are knitting or crocheting.

25g balls +/- 200m
Needle sizes 3.75-7mm
Composition: 79% Mohair, 21% Synthetic

Available in Magic Ball colour combinations.
